FOR AT WHATEVER POINT YOU JUDGE THE OTHER…

This verse (Romans 2:1-3) came back to bite me on the hind end today. I have been angry for many years at those who look down their noses at me because of my weight issues. Well, today the Lord spoke to me so clearly that I feel led to share.

Conversation between me & God

me-”Why do people, even people I am close to, look at me as though I am less than them, simply because I am over weight? I don’t buy their reasoning that it is so unhealthy, because there are plenty of people out there that are skinny & are still not healthy. Look at those who are thin & yet have smoked like a chimney all their lives. They just don’t like how it looks. It is that simple.”

God-”Aren’t you judging the very same people that you say are judging you? And aren’t you also judging those who smoke? “You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things.”

me-”My God, forgive me for my judgment. I cannot change how others judge me, but I can change how I react to it, with no judgment of them & their actions. It will be up to you to judge, not me. God will give to each person according to what he has done. (Romans 2:6)

Although the concept of judgment isn’t at all new to me, God always finds ways to remind His children not to cast the first stone.

  1. you know, the one thing that comes to my mind is…

judge not, lest ye be judged.

it is up to our higher power to do that. so while I may not agree with someone’s beliefs or behaviors, it is not for me to judge or condemn. All we can do is express our point of view. And sometimes that is the point. That we try, regardless. Yet in the end, it is not for us to judge. and if a person is strong enough, nothing can sway their thinking. It works both ways.

Judgement is not up to us.

  2. Thanks Lala.
I believe you are referring to Matthew 7:1

    NIV version
1″Do not judge, or you too will be judged.

2For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

3″Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?

God doesn’t say that we can’t “lovingly” point out things we see in others, He does, however, make it clear that we are to first administer to our own sins. If we don’t do this, then we can easily fall into a self-righteous state of judgment heaped on others heads, thus fulfilling this scripture regarding our own judgment.
